"The Giver" author Lois Lowery

It's the moment Jonas has been waiting for. It's the moment he is to go before the elders to receive his assignment. His assignment of what he is to become. Jonas prepared himself to walk to the stage he whole life. But then the Chief Elder skipped over him, calling the eighteens to twenties. Jonas thought she had made a mistake, she skipped over calling the nineteen's. She kept calling for the twenty one, twenty two, Jonas was so dazed as they moved into the thirties. He couldn't believe The Chief Elder would make a mistake, they don't make mistakes. pg 57 My heart was jumping reading this paragraph. I could feel myself in Jonas shoes. Looking around and seeing the entire room and their eyes starring upon me. I could feel my own face turning red with embarrassment. Little did her know the best was about to come. Jonas was assigned to be trained as their next receiver of memory. pg 64. All the teens have number's assigned to them, as they are called to the stage, one number at a time, all except Jonas.

This entire couple of pages reminded of me and how I might react during my graduation here at the SRJC this May 2013. Will I be skipped over? Will my face turn a beat color of red with all eye's starring up at me as I cross the stage to grab my degree? All along wondering, will they call me by my college ID or my name?

"A goal is a dream with a deadline" by Napoleon Hill

To have a positive attitude you have to change your mind set, your inner voice, your way of thinking. Like Michael Jordan, author of "10 Amazing Success Lessons". He said, "some people want it, some people wish it, other make it happen". Having a positive attitude will help you believe in yourself, like the little engine that could, find your pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Reach for the sky! ;;)
